There are 4 ways in which you can end your unwanted pregnancy in the first month.

Medical: In this method medicines are prescribed to terminate early pregnancy. The medicine cause contraction of the womb that works for abortion.  However, there are many medicines on the market but you should take every pill after consulting your Doctor. Never take any medicine without a prescription from the doctor. Terminating the pregnancy medically can be done only in the first 9 weeks of pregnancy.

Surgical: Another way to terminate early pregnancy is the surgical way. This can be done in a clinic that requires a small procedure to terminate the pregnancy. Surgical abortion is a good option for those who want their abortion completed in a clinic or a hospital. This procedure follows up one of the following steps.

Abortion by Suction: A vacuum aspiration, is the most common type of terminating an unwanted pregnancy. This procedure hardly takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete.

In this procedure, the doctor first examines your uterus and then inserts a speculum into the vagina. After injecting a numbing medication into your cervix they insert dilators to open your cervix. With the help of a tub, a gentle suction is to be done to pull the pregnancy tissue out of the uterus. Many women feel cramps during this procedure but these cramps usually end with ejecting the tube from the uterus.

Abortion by Scraping: This procedure requires if it is been longer than 16 weeks of your pregnancy. It is a modified procedure known as Dilation and Evacuation (D and E). The procedure remains the same as the Abortion by suction procedure but in this procedure, a stronger suction needs to be done that requires more tools to remove the pregnancy tissues from your uterus and terminate the unwanted pregnancy.

Aftercare:

After the abortion, one needs to take special care. However, doctors will tell you the way you can take care of yourself but you also need to be more careful from your side.

  • However many women experience bleeding and cramps after terminating the unwanted pregnancy but you should see your doctor if you are experiencing a very heavy flow such as consuming two pads in an hour.
  • You must take care of your hygiene after the procedure to prevent infection.
  • Your doctor may recommend a pain reliever to help with cramping. They may also prescribe antibiotics to help prevent infection. You need to continue to take your antibiotics until the bottle runs out.
